Beautiful lips should be cared for!

Beautiful, soft and well-groomed lips are popular with all genders. No matter whether small or large, the main thing is well-kept. The skin on the lips is very sensitive as it is thinner than the rest of the face. In addition, there is a lack of sweat and sebum glands, which is why hardly any moisture can be stored. The result is brittle, cracked and dry lips. Lip care products help to keep them from drying out. It doesn't matter whether it's a stick, cream or oil: the ingredients are decisive for the caring effect. Thus, not all lip care products offer the same level of care. Caution is therefore required with some ingredients.

Substances of concern

According to the Ökotest, some lip balms contain questionable ingredients. Almost half of some of the tested products consist of saturated mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOSH/ POSH). MOSH are known to accumulate in human adipose tissue or in the liver. In animals, this led to organ damage. Petroleum-based ingredients may contain mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) and these ingredients can be carcinogenic at even the smallest levels. MOAH are also suspected of being mutagenic.

Did you know, that...

...according to the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), we swallow as many as four lip balms over the course of a long winter? Pretty weird the thought of eating lip balm, isn't it? It makes sense to pay attention to the ingredients.

Chapped Lips

Dry and chapped lips are unsightly, painful and also make it easier for bacteria to enter the body. Lipstick is also more difficult to apply to broken lips.

Tip: If possible, dry lips should not be moistened with saliva, as this draws even more moisture from the lips.

seasonal care

In winter, chapped lips are favored by the cold temperatures and the warm air from the heating. Especially at this time you should moisturize your lips a lot. Pens and care products in jars usually have a firmer and more waxy texture than care products in tubes. So that creams from the tube can be better distributed, they often contain more water. However, the higher water content in frost is a bad idea. In winter care should therefore be taken as low in water as possible but rich in fat.

What many forget in summer: UV rays from the sun not only hit our face and body, but also our lips. Lip care with at least a sun protection factor of 20 is therefore advisable in summer. Anyone who has ever experienced it knows that sunburn on the lips can be very painful.

Petroleum-free lip balm

When buying lip care products, you should pay attention to and avoid mineral oil-based ingredients. You can find these ingredients under the names:

- Paraffin

- Cera Microcristallina (Microcristallina Wax)

- Ceresin

- Mineral oil

- Ozokerites

- Liquid paraffin

- petrolatum

Our lip care sticks

There are now also lip care products on the market that are based, for example, on olive oil, shea butter or jojoba or apricot oil. Jojoba oil in particular is most similar to the skin's own fat and is therefore very well suited to keeping the lips soft and tender and protecting them from external influences.

That's why our lip balms are based on jojoba oil. The oils contained in the pens are of organic quality. They are 100 percent plastic-free, vegan and come in practical cardboard packaging. Our pens are available in great varieties:

Our lip balms

We offer our lip balms in practical metal jars. The empty screw-top jars are easy to upcycle. For example as a storage tool for spices, tablets or jewellery. You can find our lip balms in the delicious varieties
